Sommet International des Bénévoles Africains (SIBA) is a platform for reflection, sharing of experience, opportunities, and capacity of building volunteers through in particular education to change mentalities, commitment to taking action. initiatives and responsibilities, with a view to developing a new breed of young people who are sufficiently well trained and aware of their role in the development of the different communities.
History of SIBA
Côte d'Ivoire, like most of these countries on the African continent, has a predominantly young population. According to the estimates of the General Population and Housing Census of 2014, 77.7% of the country's inhabitants are between 0 and 35 years old and 36.2% at an age which varies between 15 and 34 years. The youth of the Ivorian population is, without a doubt, a real opportunity for the development of the country; because this constitutes an available workforce, full of potential and creativity. In doing so, this youth offers serious opportunities for innovation and accelerating economic and sustainable growth on the continent. The youth of our dreams will therefore be called upon to innovate, that is to say to create new solutions that will meet the needs of the continent and of their respective States.
It is in this dynamic that a group of 18 Ivorian organizations committed to the sustainable development of Africa, under the Lead of the Association of Volunteers for Social Development_AVSD, have considered organizing the International Summit of African Volunteers-SIBA with for theme: Young people, let's be conscientious actors for the development of our communities.
